A fine example of an Arts and Crafts cottage, located in the village of Near Sawrey, the home of Beatrix Potter and a short distance from Lake Windermere.

This beautiful and charming property, built at the turn of the nineteenth century, is the end cottage in a row of three, built to reflect the style of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Situated between Coniston Water and Lake Windermere in the delightful little hamlet of Far Sawrey, where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous stories, the cottage is also close to Hawkshead, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District. Nearby is Esthwaite Water, a fantastic fishing lake which also inspired Wordsworth. Ambleside, Coniston, Grizedale and Grasmere are within easy reach, and Windermere and Bowness are a short ferry ride away. With breath-taking scenery and activities for the whole family, this idyllic spot guarantees a memorable holiday.

On entering this beautiful cottage via the timber porch, you will find yourself in the cosy and welcoming lounge, where you will find window seats, a TV, DVD, CD, and a lovely open fire. Heading into the cottage style kitchen you will find everything you may need including an oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Exploring further, there is a traditional dining room, ideal for when you want to sit down to a special meal. There is also a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a downstairs WC. Heading upstairs, you will find the comfortable and attractive master bedroom with double bed. There is also a twin room, with lovely views of the few surrounding cottages, and glimpses of the lake. The bathroom offers a bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.

Stepping outside, you will find a pretty traditional cottage garden with lawn to the front of the cottage towards the quiet country lane. The gravel drive also creates a secluded patio area to the side of the cottage. Bordered by stone walls and overhanging trees, the garden is an ideal space for children to play and adults to barbecue and relax. There is also an acre of woodland behind the cottage for you to explore. There is off-road parking available for two cars, and there is space for bike storage.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Loved our second visit to Sunnyside - its in a lovely village with lots of walks although quite a lot of road walking to get to footpaths. Hawkshead is lovely and also the walk from there to Tarn Hows. The dogs loved it too

Lovely location, essential are all in and working. Nice dog friendly pub within walking distance. Great location for dogs although a fair bit of walking on leads and country lanes.

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. It was a short walk from the Pub (Dog friendly) and Beatrix Potter's home. It was also about 3 miles from the Vehicle ferry crossing to Bowness, which saved a long twisting drive around the lake.

Comfortable, relaxing break with lovely scenic walks close by. Dogs loved the large enclosed garden and log fire. Great pubs and village shops a short drive away.

The cottage is in a quiet lane, just down from Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's house. There is a pub in the village. Inside, it is comfortable. We bring two dogs, which is why we come here. We have stayed here four times.
