Detached cottage on a quiet country lane, just a few miles from the water’s edge at Lake Windermere and with easy access to country walks and hikes.

This beautiful detached Lakeland cottage is situated in the delightful hamlet of Near Sawrey, close to where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous stories. Two miles away is Hawkshead, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District; a thriving area ideally situated between Coniston Water and Lake Windermere, Hawkshead offers a great selection of tea rooms, pubs and gift shops, and is home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Close by is Esthwaite Water, a fantastic fishing lake which also inspired Wordsworth. Ambleside, Coniston, Grizedale and Grasmere are within easy reach, and Windermere and Bowness are just a short ferry ride away. With breath-taking scenery and activities for the whole family, this idyllic spot guarantees a memorable holiday.

From the porch, you step through a small entrance hall and into a charming furnished reception room. From here a doorway leads into the traditional dining room, and then you can pass into the bespoke  kitchen which is equipped with electric oven, double hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The kitchen also benefits from French doors which lead out onto a furnished private patio at the rear of the cottage. Exploring further, you will find the inviting and cosy living room, with exposed beams, an open fire in a stone hearth, TV and DVD. You will find a comfy double bedroom and a shower room complete with WC. There is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Heading upstairs you will find the second lounge, also with TV. This spacious room has high ceilings and French doors which lead out onto a second patio area which offers glimpses of the rolling hills towards Grizedale. There is also a large master bedroom with four-poster bed and TV. You will also find a second smaller double bedroom (with an electric wall mounted heater). There are two bathrooms on this floor: the traditional family bathroom offers a bath with hand-held shower and WC, and there is also a smaller shower room with basin and WC.

Stepping outside you will find two stone-flagged patio areas at different levels, linked by a flight of stone steps (small children will require supervision). These are charming spots for relaxing at the end of a fantastic day. Off-road parking is available for two cars opposite the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 3 double bedrooms

This is a quaint quirky cottage. It easily sleeps 6 people and there is plenty of room. Each room has a bathroom close by. 2 bathrooms have showers and the third bathroom has a bath with a shower. The cottage was very clean and warm. There was also a supply of logs and coals to light the open fire if you wanted too. Parking was across the road throRead moreugh the wooden gate. Lovely, warm and comfortable cottage. Felt more spacious than I expected and well equipped. Great location with several walks from the cottage and just a short drive to Hawkshead for supplies. Also only 10 minutes drive to Grizedale for Go Ape, bike hire and many walks. Loved the pub, the Tower Bank Arms - just round the corner with good beer and gRead morereat food. Hilltop also only about 200m away if you want to visit Beatrix Potter's home. Hide

Cosy and warm cottage in a very pretty part of Lake District. Lovely kitchen, very peaceful surroundings but near enough to civilisation if needed just across the ferry! Fabulous main bedroom. We have been going to Sawrey for over 60 years and never tire of the area and will hopefully continue to enjoy holidays for many years to come.
