In a unique setting by the shores of Coniston Water, this stunning Georgian property is perfect for larger groups of friends and family celebrating special occasions or holidaying together. Accommodating 8 people across four bedrooms, and with two dogs welcome too, this spacious home is in a superb location for walking, cycling and water sports. Sailing enthusiasts can even moor their own boats on the estate’s private jetty.

 

This beautiful home is impressive in both its grandeur and position, having previously welcomed famous guests including Beatrix Potter and the Victorian Poet Laureate, Tennyson. The elegant and expansive sitting room is a wonderful and social space for your guests to gather, with an open fire and plenty of seating for cosy evenings. Enjoy family dinners in the grand dining room, which also boasts an open fire, or for more informal snacks or meals, the breakfast table in the kitchen is a nice spot. This spacious and contemporary area is equipped with everything you’ll need, with a traditional oil-fired AGA at its heart. Heading upstairs, a restful night awaits, for guests retiring to the beautiful and stylish bedrooms. Four are on this level, accessed by two different staircases, In addition two narrow staircases lead either side from the landing to two pretty twin bedrooms where characterful sloping ceilings. Outside, the children and dogs will love exploring the surrounding sloping gardens, while you take a seat on the large terrace.

 

Pack a picnic and wander down to the estate’s shared lakeshore area, which is perfect for paddling. Try one of the water sports on offer or stay on dry land to follow one of the many woodland trails or cycle routes at Grizedale Forest (6 miles). Wander around the shops in Coniston village (1.5 miles) before stopping off at one of the local pubs.

  • 2 open fires – lounge & dining room (logs available to pre-order at a small charge – please contact us for further information)

  • Parking for 5 cars - a further 2 cars by arrangement with the owner. Please note electric vehicle charging is not permitted at this property

  • Please note, due to the height and open nature of the main staircase, children should be supervised at all time
  • Bookings for 1 week can arrive on a Thursday only. 3-5 night stays can arrive Thursday, please enquire.
  • Guests may bring their own boat (max 26ft) and use the estate's jetties. Please contact us for further information (NB: there are bylaws for Coniston Water regarding size and speed of watercraft please refer to Coniston Boating website for information)

  • Electric vehicle charging is not permitted at this property
  • This property can only be booked as a standalone property and not in conjunction with a larger group booking involving other properties on site.
  • Arrival: 17:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £500 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £55. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

We have just had the most wonderful Christmas stay at Tent Lodge. The location is stunning and the property is incredibly well maintained and very comfortable. It has the perfect combination of a generous space for larger families, whilst also being cosy and warming. We really couldnt recommend it enough.
