Victorian property, once the courthouse and police station, located in the pretty village of Hawkshead, known for its connections to William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.

This property is located in the village of Hawkshead, within walking distance of village amenities. There is a choice of pubs, a number of interesting properties which are managed by the National Trust and a range of interesting shops and cafes. Lake Windermere is a short drive away, and visitors should be sure to take one of the pleasure cruises which run up and down the 10.5-mile long lake, stopping at numerous places of interest, including Ambleside,and Bowness.  A short drive from the village is Grizedale Forest with its walking routes, cycle paths, Segway hire, sculpture trail and Go-Ape high ropes adventure.

This handsome property offers high-quality accommodation spread across three floors. On the ground floor, the spacious kitchen/diner offers a welcoming place to enjoy a cup of tea after a long journey or a day of sightseeing, with its pine dining table seating six, slate floor and bright tiles. Guests will find everything they need here, including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer and dishwasher, there is even a TV and comfortable seating area. Adjacent to the kitchen, guests will find a utility room and a convenient ground-floor WC. Taking the stairs to the first floor, guests will find the elegant lounge which offers sofa seating, a wood burner-effect electric fire, TV, DVD, and CD. One of the property’s bedrooms is also on this floor, an attractive single, which has a shower room with WC close-at-hand. The stunning master bedroom suite occupies the second floor and comprises a king-size bed, low-level window, dressing table, TV, and a cosy armchair. The exposed stone wall, vaulted ceiling, and beams add to the romantic atmosphere of this room and it is here that the property’s sense of history is felt most keenly. This room also benefits from a lovely en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and WC.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

The cottage is ideally located in the lovely village of Hawkshead. Well equipped throughout with a very comfortable lounge for relaxing after a day out exploring the local area. Highly recommended!

Just returned from a 5 day break here and have to say the cottage was fabulous. Fantastic location in the heart of the village whilst being quiet too. Beautifully appointed and cosy , we especially loved the country stone floored kitchen. Whilst not being any problem for us some may find the number of stairs an issue with the layout being over 3 flRead moreoors. That said we have come home and booked again straight away for the same time next year !! Hide

The property is perfect as long as you don't mind stairs. Beautifully decorated, comfortable and very well equipped. It is very peacefully situated yet only a few metres from all the village amenities. Perfect for a walking holiday, there's no need to use the car at all.

Judges Lodging in Hawkshead was a delightful cottage in a beautiful village . Warm , cosy and peaceful. Parking for one car so no parking worries . Office 100 yards away so easy to pick up keys .

This was as near a perfect home from home as can be expected, all kitchen tools present, games tv video and many more. If you can find a better equipped place for the money please let me know. The sleeping areas so peaceful.

The cottage is in an excellent location within the village being seconds away from the local shops and pubs. There are many walks directly from the cottage so there isn't even a need to drive if you want a day away from the car. All the rooms are furnished to a high standard with everything you need at hand. Having the local office in the village tRead moreo collect and drop keys was also quite handy. Hide

This property is spacious and comfortable and although it is showing signs of wear and tear, it remains in the perfect position in the centre of the village. Whilst Hawkshead it self is in one of the most beautiful parts of the Lakes.

The Judge's Lodging is an ideal place to stay in the heart of the Lake District. Feeling as if we were locals, there is a delightful cafe across the street as well as a pub. Many hiking trails can be accessed in literally 2 minutes! The various shops and other pubs, all within a very short walk were ideal! There is a co-op grocery store across the Read morestreet that is well stocked and provided an option for us to cook in during our stay. Delightful! Will stay here again in a minute!! Hide

A comfortable property. Its star feature is location, central to all Hawksheads pubs, shops and cafes and yet equally wonderful that a another few steps and you are out into glorious countryside.

I have to say that our visit last week was just as good as the other two stays. The introduction of a welcome pack was a nice touch. We did have a light fail in the kitchen but as usual the Hideways staff fixed the problem for us immediately. In summary it's a good place to stay at a very good price.
