Enjoy a memorable Lakeland holiday for two with this elegant former dairy just a short stroll from the village pub and a host of footpaths and bridleways.

Located in the quintessential village of Greystoke, this historic retreat is a fantastic choice for couples looking to explore the local area on foot. The village itself is home to a friendly pub, a heated open-air swimming pool, skills workshop, and charming village green. For cyclists, the Coast to Coast route passes the edge of the village, while keen walkers can choose between the heights of Eycott Hill and Berrier Hill, both just 3.5 miles away. No visit to this area is complete without a trip on one of Ullswater’s famous steamers, from which you can enjoy stunning scenery accompanied by a drink from the on-board bar. Meanwhile, just 5 miles away, the bustling town of Penrith offers a good selection of shops and amenities.

Inside, the inviting accommodation is bright and spacious with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, wooden flooring and tasteful neutral decor. Rustle up romantic meals for two in the sunny kitchen area, which is fitted with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. At the end of a long day, light the wood burner and settle in for a cosy evening on the sofa while watching your favourite programmes on TV, or simply sit back and admire the birdlife through the French doors. Also on the ground floor is the modern shower room, while the romantic bedroom is located on a galleried mezzanine floor in the eaves, complete with a cosy king-size bed and exposed beams overhead.

French doors open from the main living space onto a small south-facing patio, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine as the sun goes down. A gravel path leads to a delightful private secret garden complete with a wooden bench and folding table for peaceful picnics for two. Bikes may be stored in the owners’ garage and a washing machine, tumble dryer and additional freezer space is available on request. There is parking for one car beside the cottage.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
