Groups of eight will love this beautiful farmhouse located in a tranquil spot next to Loweswater. Stunning mountain views surround you and the games barn is a great addition for your Lake District break.

Located at the head of one of the prettiest lakes in the area, this farmhouse is well situated to explore the best of the Lake District. Take a stroll from the doorstep around Loweswater, the paths around here take you through pretty woodlands and up onto low fells. Whinlatter Forest Park (9 miles) is home to fantastic walks, mountain biking trails and is a great place to spot wildlife. Visit Honister Slate Mine (11 miles), a large working slate mine and popular tourist attraction. For shops, restaurants and museums, head to the market town of Keswick (19.5 miles), or enjoy boating and fishing on the neighbouring Derwentwater Lake.

On entering the property, you’ll find yourself in a traditional farmhouse kitchen. It has beautiful handmade units, a Belfast sink and a large Range cooker. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine, a bread maker, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and other useful amenities you will need for a self-catering holiday. To the rear of the property is a utility room with plenty of hanging space, victorian style airer and boot storage, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s a downstairs shower room with WC. Head through to the lounge which dates back to 1664. Traditional, exposed beams, the original fireplace, a bread oven and salt cellar highlight the history of this space. Fire up the wood burner, take a seat on the comfortable sofas and watch a film together on the Smart TV and DVD. A dining room has seating for all eight guests and a further wood burner, as well as a pretty writing desk and window seat to admire the views across the Lake District fells and mountains. Completing this floor is a dual-aspect, king-size zip-and-link bedroom (the bed can be made into two singles if requested at the time of booking). Upstairs are the three further bedrooms with superb views from each, as well as low, sloping ceilings. One is a king-size, one a double and the other a twin room. A bathroom has a free-standing roll-top bath and a separate shower, and the WC is in a separate cloakroom.

The garden is spacious and enclosed. It has a large lawned space, great for playing lawn games, and a pretty patio terrace with garden furniture and a fire pit. There is a secret garden and a pretty summer house for all to enjoy and the barn houses a tennis table, table football and a pool table. Parking is available for five cars and you’ll be just 1.5 miles from the nearest pub.

Just perfect. Well equipped, spectacular location, no negatives at all. Plenty to do at home and out and about. Perfect rural setting but not far from amenities. My children have declared it "the best holiday ever" and we are counting down to returning next year.

Beautiful old cottage set in amazing surroundings! We had a lovely stay as a multi generational family and everyone from 3 years to 75 years had a great holiday! Along with the dog who loved the garden! Great walks from the door and we found a great spot on crummock water to paddleboard & kayak. Loweswater is a very magical place!
