For history, visit Muncaster Castle, 1.5 miles away, or for cycling, choose between the steep roads of the Eskdale Valley and the low-level forest tracks of the Eskdale Trail. Meanwhile, wonderful walks and breathtaking views can be discovered in Wasdale, 10 miles away, boasting England’s highest mountain, deepest lake, smallest church and arguably Britain’s favourite view.
