The Elm at Thornthwaite was a perfect little space. The views are beautiful. The bed was comfy and all the appliances worked perfectly. The people who own the cottage are so hospitable and friendly. I travel a lot and have a high standard and the Elm did not disappoint.

Cottage is very nice but we were surprised to see that the lounge and the bedroom were in the same room. It worked ok for us as our dogs are well behaved and stayed on their own beds.

Fantastic location with great views.

This cottage has excellent views and a great location; the shared garden was great for the dog and there was ample parking. There wasnt a great deal of privacy in the cottage so we wouldnt recommend it for romantic getaways, but otherwise the amenities were good.

It was beautifully clean and I appreciated mattress and pillow protectors. Small, but was as described and suited us as an older couple very well. The garden was nicely maintained plus garden furniture and so was lovely for a cup of tea and for the dogs. Nice touches like a pint of milk and walk suggestions.

Lovely little cottage in a quiet location. Some great personal touches by the owners - small towels for wet and muddy paws, milk, tea and coffee on arrival etc. Only 10 minutes from Keswick and on the doorstep of the Northern Lakes. We loved our stay and would definitely think of staying there again.

We found Elm cottage warm and comfortable and very clean. The cottage had everything we needed and is well situated for easy access to nearby towns and villages where we were pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do in November in the most vial of weather. The studio is in a beautiful area of the Lake district and makes a good base for sight seeing around the North Lakes. Thornthwaite is a small village and there is not much there, so you may need to travel to Keswick for provisions.

Cosy small studio apartment situated in beautiful Thornthwaite. Owners were very helpful making sure we were able t find the property when we arrived late and in the dark. The apartment does not have all mod cons but given the rental price I consider it offers good value for money.

Excellent location for a break. Garden area shared but didn't seem to be used by the other 2 residents. Very quiet and picturesque. Bed very comfortable but 2 seater couch a bit cramped.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
