Elm Cottage apartment is great for a couple or a single occupant. We had two dogs who had easy access via the large patio doors to the secure garden. Our cottage was small and compact with a well equipped kitchen, nice shower, and separate toilet. The cottage had everything you needed, was lovely and warm, the bed and pillows comfortable, with a fantastic view of the mountains, a nice enclosed garden for the dogs, they loved it, and were very spoilt.

Really lovely cottage, just a few minutes drive to Keswick. Very quiet location. We took our well behaved cocker spaniel and there was plenty of room for us all. Really well appointed and spotlessly clean. The gallery is stacked full of really nice gifts and well worth visiting as is the coffee shop was excellent.

A fab little gem which was everything dog friendly we could wish for! A fab view of Skiddaw, on the doorstep walks in the woods or round Bassenthwaite. The icing was that there was a Gallery/Tea Shop in the same building! Brilliant!

The location was ideal for us with plenty of varied walks to suit all types, we particularly liked the walk to Bassenthwaite Lake which our dog loved. The garden was lovely, it was nice to sit outside sheltered under the arch and enjoy the spectacular view no matter what the weather. It was our second visit and we will definitely be back.

The Elm at Thornthwaite was a perfect little space. The views are beautiful. The bed was comfy and all the appliances worked perfectly. The people who own the cottage are so hospitable and friendly. I travel a lot and have a high standard and the Elm did not disappoint.

Cottage is very nice but we were surprised to see that the lounge and the bedroom were in the same room. It worked ok for us as our dogs are well behaved and stayed on their own beds.

This cottage has excellent views and a great location; the shared garden was great for the dog and there was ample parking. There wasnt a great deal of privacy in the cottage so we wouldnt recommend it for romantic getaways, but otherwise the amenities were good.

It was beautifully clean and I appreciated mattress and pillow protectors. Small, but was as described and suited us as an older couple very well. The garden was nicely maintained plus garden furniture and so was lovely for a cup of tea and for the dogs. Nice touches like a pint of milk and walk suggestions.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
