Wonderful location with plenty of walks directly accessible without needing to use your car. Despite what an earlier reviewer said there is ample room for two cars and you soon get used to the narrow windy access road. Highly recommended, will be back. Tip, the old railway line just above the property is a more pleasant walk to the village or the SRead morehip Inn as it avoids the main road. Hide

Weve had a fabulous week in this cottage. It feels homely, is well equipped (although no tumble drier may be an issue in wetter weather), is comfortable and in an excellent location - amazing walks on the doorstep, views of coniston lake and a short (steep) stroll to Coniston village.

This lovely cottage is in a lovely location, only 5 mins walk to the village centre, or the Ship Inn in the other direction. It's very well equipped, and has an attractive garden on 2 levels. The village was never overrun, unlike Ambleside say. The tarmac access road off the main road is very short, only 30m, but it is steep, narrow and twisty, so Read moreprobably not suitable for the largest of cars. However, we only drove once all week, because all the best walks are right on the doorstep. Hide

It was a bit tricky driving up to the cottage in our large van with steep inclines & sharp bends but once we were up there we found a beautiful cottage with fantastic views of the lake. The cottage was very comfortable & well equipped. We all had a lovely holiday spending our time walking by the lake, climbing The Old Man of Coniston, visits to AmbRead moreleside & Lake Windermere Hide

Lovely cottage, very well equipped and well suited for a family of 4 with a dog. It is a steep and scary drive up to the car park, but once there everything is perfectly set up. The garden is lovely, and we even had a meal outside once (weather permitting). Nice and well fitted-out kitchen, small but cosy living room, and a master and two smaller bRead moreed rooms upstairs. Only one toilet/bathroom but we managed well. Town centre is a short walk with a fish-and-chips shop on the way. Hide

A great view of Coniston and a nice big lounge, but access road very narrow and steep- difficult for a large jeep. Could not fit two cars in the parking space. Garden was not fully fenced so dog could escape and was very steeply stepped so not good for small children.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
