Boasting an impressive location on the north-eastern shore of Coniston Water, this gorgeous barn conversion is a wonderful base for a break with friends or family. Accommodating up to six people, it’s located on a small country estate with guests enjoying access to its private lake shoreline. With the village of Coniston and local pubs 1.5 miles away, and some great walks and hikes passing the front door, this is a true rural retreat.

 

This delightful semi-detached property shares a courtyard with four other holiday homes and is characterful and homely throughout. The light-filled kitchen is a lovely spot for cooking up a delicious family meal, which your guests can enjoy while gathered around the spacious dining table. The roomy yet cosy lounge is a sociable place for everyone to relax and unwind, with comfortable sofas and a wood burner to add to the room’s peaceful ambience. Off the main hallway on this level is the small bunk bedroom, which is under a sloping ceiling and ideal for children, though fine for adults too. A pretty king-size room is also on this floor. Heading upstairs, you will find a further twin bedroom with sloping ceilings, along with a large bathroom which features a whirlpool bath. Take in the stunning views from the sunny patio outside, which opens out onto a large walled garden.

 

Wander down to the estate’s lakeshore edge and have a paddle and a picnic. You can even moor your own boat here. Coniston Water itself has something for the whole family, including scenic walks, water sports and boat trips. Grizedale Forest (6 miles) is a great family day out with woodland strolls and sculpture trails.

I am nervous about writing too positively only because we want to be able to book this fabulous property again in the future!! Its location is magical, and we were treated to the most incredible views across the lake each day, with combinations of mist, rain, blue skies and sunshine. As keen swimmers, it was absolutely perfect for our family! The pRead moreroperty is modern, very comfortable and with plenty of hot water (post swims!) and good heating. We had the most delightful holiday here. Richard and Wendy take great pride and care in ensuring that all aspects of the property are maintained to a high standard and are always available to help if required. What a fabulous cottage in a spectacular location. We spent each day in the lake, swimming and paddle boarding. Easy walk into Coniston for a pub tea and the breakfast at the farm next door has to be tried. The cottage has everything you need and more - such a well stocked kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and lovely comfy furniture.

Tinkler Beck Cottage was perfect for our family holiday. The layout of the bedrooms worked well and we loved the sociable dining/kitchen area. We had lovely alfresco meals on the spacious patio and the children loved the space of the garden.
