Located in the grounds of Crosthwaite House, this quaint and cosy cottage is a romantic bolthole for couples in search of a relaxing break. It enjoys a peaceful location and spectacular views with many walks on the doorstep, perfect for those who are bringing their two dogs along as well. The local pub is less than half a mile away too, meaning you can do as much or as little as you like.

This pretty home has many traditional features which add to its charm, to create a relaxing base for your holiday. On the ground floor, the living accommodation is open-plan and has a warm and inviting feel. Prepare a tasty meal for two in the compact, yet well-equipped kitchen, before sitting down to enjoy it beside the wood burner, which is in a fine stone fireplace. Snuggle up on the sofa and enjoy a relaxing night in with a film, while the dogs snooze at your feet. A staircase leads up to the double bedroom, a tastefully decorated space where you’ll be sinking under the covers and drifting off to sleep in no time. The bathroom can be found on this level, as well. Soak up your tranquil surroundings with a drink in the pretty shared terrace garden and take in the views across to the church and distant fells of Whitbarrow Scar and Cartmel Fell.

The area is packed with narrow winding lanes that pass farmland, woodland and rivers, making it perfect for keen walkers and cyclists. Take to the water on Lake Windermere (6 miles) with a pleasure cruise, before stopping off at Bowness, which boasts an array of shops. Explore the medieval house and gardens of Sizergh Castle, which is 7.5 miles away.

Lovely stay at Top Barn. Lots of great walks from the door and dog friendly pubs a short drive away. The Punch Bowl 200 yds away no longer allows dogs.

This is an adorable little cottage that was perfect for our stay. Everything we needed was provided, as well as a welcoming bottle of milk. As we stayed in November we didn't use the garden for sitting in, but it was great for our two dogs, who loved exploring. It was safe aand secure which was vital as we have a 8 month old mini JRT puppy. The eveRead morenings were pleasant as we had the log burner, really finished our days off perfectly.... Lovely cosy little cottage with awesome views when the sun rises and sets. Great location with so many fantastic food places within a very short distance. Quaint pretty little cottage! All the essentials you should need for a dog friendly getaway in the most beautiful setting. Would stay again great base for driving out to the Lakes just be mindful taxis pretty expensive as out in the sticks. And lovely hosts staying a couple of doors down should you need anything.

Lovely cottage in beautiful shared gardens. Secure for dogs but it is shared so must get on with other dogs. Great location for walks and lakes. Book local pubs/ restaurants before you go as they get very busy. Not for very tall people!

Owners were friendly and welcoming. Lovely old character property in a great quiet rural location. Really quiet roads for riding on with hardly any traffic.. Walks around the local countryside can start and finish from your front door. Really enjoyed our stay there, so will probably book again very soon

The cottage is very cosy and was perfectly equipped for the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 dogs). The bed was super comfy and although small the kitchen had everything we needed. The only thing is there aren't really any off lead walks nearby without getting in the car but the beautiful garden was big enough for our 2 to have a sniff about. The local pub doeRead mores not allow dogs but the food was amazing. Great base from which to explore the southern lakes and some really good walks within a 15 minute drive. Hide
