The village of Hawkshead is a must-see when visiting the area, with its independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Stretch your legs on the circular route at the stunning Tarn Hows (4 miles) which can be enjoyed on foot or two wheels and takes in some majestic mountain views. The popular town of Ambleside is 4.5 miles away - from here, hop on one of the many pleasure cruises that cross Lake Windermere to enjoy the sights from a different perspective.
