A gorgeous barn loft conversion together with former village jail annexe in the heart of the foodie haven that is Cartmel.

This property consists of two buildings: a meticulously restored barn loft conversion and a small former village jail, in the popular village of Cartmel. Both of these welcoming properties have been stylishly designed and finished. The larger of the two boasts a stunning open-plan living space with high ceilings and exposed beams. The keen chefs of the group will enjoy rustling up a snack in the chic kitchen, before everyone settles down to eat at the spacious table. Comfortable sofas provide a cosy spot to enjoy a glass of wine and unwind, while those staying in the sumptuous and pretty bedroom, will be drifting off into a peaceful sleep in no time. Across the courtyard is the former village ‘lock-up’ which is a small and quirky property, with the bedroom intriguingly located in the former jail, which is listed as a building of special architectural and historical interest. Bars on the doors and windows as well as an ancient lock and key add character to this fascinating space. A contemporary wet room is on the ground floor, while the double bedroom is accessed via a narrow staircase. Relax in the courtyard areas where table and chairs provide a peaceful spot to relax.

Foodies are in for a treat in Cartmel, with an array of fantastic places to eat and drink. Follow one of the scenic walks which pass the door or stroll around Eggerslack Woods (3 miles) for a gentle day. Try one of the water sports on offer at Lake Windermere (6.5 miles) or hop on a pleasure cruise across the water. For some coastal air, head to Grange-over-Sands, 2.5 miles away.

A wonderful property right in the heart of Cartmel. Its very spacious which is a huge bonus as most properties in the village are small. The jail sleeping building is small but the owners have used every inch of space effectively. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend Wharton Mews.

A superb property right in the centre of Cartmel and a short walk from the race course. The property is extremely well equipped, with a fantastic living room, bathrooms and bedrooms. Added benefit of garaged parking under the house the house. Cartmel is a beautiful place to visit, people are really friendly and the pubs, cafes and shops are fun to Read morevisit. If your in to your walking there are a number of routes that start from the front of the house. Fantastic property will definitely return. Hide

Wharton House Mews is perfectly placed to explore the picturesque village of Cartmel , only recently renovated to the highest of standards and thoughtfully equipped. When rented together with the old jail the property works well for a two generation family holiday.
