Grade II listed cottage situated in a pretty square in the ever-popular village of Hawkshead, with its pubs, shops, and interesting historic buildings.
Hawkshead is a village popular with Lakeland visitors, not just due to its attractive cobbled streets and olde worlde feel, but also due to its celebrated connections to two of the region’s most famous figures: Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. Visitors can follow in their footsteps by paying a visit to the Beatrix Potter Gallery and Hawkshead Grammar School, which Wordsworth once attended. The surrounding countryside offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy scenic walks, in the forests, the fells or on the shores of Lake Windermere.
The hallway of this property brings guests to the spacious and elegant lounge, with its oak beams, wood burner-effect gas fire, and deep sofas. Antique furniture has been carefully chosen to give this room an authentic feel, but guests are not expected to forego modern comforts, as there is a TV/DVD. Across the hall from the lounge, there is a very spacious dining room with a large table seating eight, another wood burner-effect gas fire, and views to the village church. There is access from the dining room down to the cellar, where there is a freezer and space to store bikes. (This can also be accessed via an external door). The kitchen is located to the rear of the dining room and offers flagstone flooring and a window-seat from which guest can enjoy views of the garden. It is well-equipped with AGA-style, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge, whilst the washing machine and an additional sink can be found in the adjacent utility room. Two staircases lead to the first floor of the property, one from the front door and another ‘secret’ staircase from the dining room. The master bedroom suite is a stunning cottage-style room with a double bed, dressing room and en-suite bathroom with bath, handheld shower, and WC. The second bedroom is a king sized double room, with stained wood floorboards and pine furniture. A third bedroom is a pretty twin room, whilst the fourth is a light-filled single room with built-in wardrobes. There is also a shower room on this floor with corner shower and WC.
Outside, there is a delightful rear garden which is accessed via the utility room, which comprises a good-sized lawn area, a patio area close to the house and a second raised patio with table and chairs which overlooks the lawn and makes a wonderful place to relax with a drink whilst the children play. Guests do need to be aware that there is a small stream in the garden, so children will need to be carefully supervised. There is also a handy outdoor WC. There is parking for one car to the front of the property.
Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.
