Have just returned from a brilliant weeks' stay at The Wordsworth Mews. A great location in the centre of Cockermouth with plenty of amenities nearby. The flat is done to a very high standard; very comfortable and modern. The only slight negative is that the band playing at The Huntsman pub next door can be heard until quite late on a Saturday nighRead moret (21:00 - 00:30) and Sunday afternoon/evening - not enough to put us off staying here again however. Thanks to Liz & Adrian for a wonderful stay. Hide

A great holiday. Cockermouth is a lovely town with plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, an ideal base for exploring the northern lakes. The apartment was very comfy, clean and extremely spacious with a high spec finish, appliances and private parking. The access was a bit narrow but secure and well lit. The hosts were very helpful beRead morefore, during and after the holiday, with nothing too much trouble. We were staying for two weeks and were provided with fresh bed linen and towels. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
