Set in pretty Eskdale Green village, this charming stone cottage sleeps five guests across three beautiful bedrooms and is packed with character and period features.

This traditional 17th-century cottage boasts original features from exposed timber beams and a cast iron range to original floors. Less than half a mile away, you’ll find Irton Road rail station - steam through the Eskdale Valley on the La’al Ratty heritage railway towards coastal Ravenglass (6.5 miles) or Dalegarth (2.5 miles) near Boot (3 miles). Discover coastal Drigg and Eskmeals Dunes Nature Reserve (7 miles), home to nesting seabirds and sandy beach walks - 18th-century shipwreck timber washed up here in 2018. And explore Muncaster Castle and Gardens with its maze, playground, and cafe; meet birds of pretty and see spring bluebell displays.

Head through the farm gate towards the gravelled drive and step inside the porch of this historic cottage. The timber-beamed hall leads through to the country-style living room with sumptuous furnishings, an original dresser with a date inscription and a charming wooden window seat. Settle into the cosy seating and stay warm with the heat from the open fire (a cast iron range). Enjoy family games, jigsaws and books or watch TV together. Enojy preparing meals together in the well-equipped kitchen which features an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and a walk-in larder. Gather at the dining table by the vintage dresser and warming wood burner and tuck into home-made feasts. Relax on garden furniture in the conservatory and enjoy the garden views or catch up on a favourite book; the conservatory houses a handy washing machine, and the family bathroom can also be found on the ground floor, featuring a free-standing bath and WC. Head upstairs to find a double bedroom with a four-poster bed, an ornamental fireplace, original wood floors and vintage wardrobes; a stylish king-size bedroom, and a cosy single bedroom, plus a family bathroom with a shower and WC (note: there are some sloping ceilings upstairs in keeping with the historic cottage design).

Fabulous place to escape and experience one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of the Lakes. This ancient house lends itself so well to stepping out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We will be back for another fix shortly

Lovely cottage situated in a glorious part of the Lakes. Walks direct from the front door with all the home comforts you need. Lovely welcome basket and if you're lucky you will see red squirrels in the morning on the bird feeder!

We loved staying at Yattus. We felt at home as soon as we set foot through the door. The house is like stepping back in time and is the perfect base for exploring Eskdale. Loved all the period detail in the house and the garden was perfect too. We will be back as soon as we can

Full of character and history, but well-modernised and excellent equipment and facilities. The wi-fi worked well throughout. A real pleasure.

A fantastic cottage. Very cozy and full of authentic elements. Well equipped with all kinds of things to cook yourself. Also nicely located with hiking trails right around the corner. In short, a wonderful cottage for a holiday.

We stayed in this cottage 3 years ago and the cost has gone up considerably since then although there do not appear to be any changes or improvements since our last visit. Some of the furniture in the lounge has seen better days. This cottage could be made a lot more comfortable without spoiling the nature of the place or the authentic features. Had a fantastic week at a gorgeous cottage, so much history in the place, but also very comfortable with that lived in feel that puts you at ease in a place.
