  • Great base to explore the coast, lakes, and Wasdale Valley

Spacious ground floor property within 800 metres from the sandy beach where you can build sandcastles and hunt for interesting creatures in the rock pools. Seascale also has a golf course with some great views on a clear day across to the Isle of Man and Lakeland fells. The western reaches of the Lake District are a little bit quieter and there are some fabulous walks and cycle routes from your front door. In the stunning valley of Wasdale and Eskdale you will find Great Gable (14 miles) and keen walkers will enjoy walking to the summit of Scafell (11 miles). If you enjoy water sports, paddleboard on Wastwater or kayak down the River Esk (within 10 miles). The local area is full of history, from the Viking cross in Gosforth's churchyard to Muncaster Castle, both under 8 miles away, and there’s a wealth of Roman heritage nearby.

This spacious property offers a great retreat for families and friends looking to enjoy the great outdoors together. Entering the property, you will find yourself in the hallway where there is storage for coats and walking boots, and there is also a handy WC. There is a bright, bunk bedroom off the hallway which is ideal for families. To the right of the hallway, you will find the open-plan contemporary kitchen/dining room which features an attractive sandstone wall and some stylish colourful dining chairs, bringing the old and new together! The lounge is off the kitchen; it offers a great place to catch up, make plans, catch up on a favourite on the Smart TV, or bring out your competitive streak with some board games. There is a sunroom off the lounge which offers a great sunny spot to get away from the crowd, read a good book or enjoy a morning coffee. On the ground floor, out from the lounge and through the hallway, you will find a king-size bedroom with a shower room opposite.

Heading outside from the sunroom, there is enclosed decking with seating to sit out on a nice day.

Fantastic cottage, spotless and beautifully equipped. Was so relaxing. Cant fault it. Great location next to the beach but far from anything else. We wanted a chilled out week and this is exactly what we got. Nicest cottage we have stayed in!

The cottage was lovely and cosy. Home from home. Really clean . Great walks from the cottage to the beach. Archie ( the dog} loved it. Great location for access to St Bees, which has a great cliff walk to St Bees head. Ravenglass and the steam railway and Muncaster Castle, Whitehaven. Great chippy with friendly staff who made a fuss of Archie. LocaRead morel Co op within walking distance if you need any essentials. All in all couldn't fault. Hide

Great quiet location with plenty of accommodation for, in our case, three generations. Easy access within a three minute drive to a super expansive beach which is very quiet and perfect for dog walks. Also a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside that the Lake District has to offer.

The cottage was fantastic and exactly as advertised. It was nice for our family of seven. The only thing that could appear as a negative is that Seascale is far from most places. Maybe it's because we're from the South East where generally towns are small and not as hilly. My family enjoyed it and we did visit the Lake District.

Ivy Cottage is spacious and well looked after with hosts living locally who are pleased to help you enjoy your stay. The cottage suited our three generation party of six adults, two little ones and a dog. Downstairs en suite bedroom useful for the oldies and a spare single room used for when the baby wouldn't settle. Easy walk to the beach, the traRead morein station, an excellent Co-op, two other useful shops and two takeaways. Enjoyed dinner at Calder House which has a pub garden with sea views. Hide
