This cosy Lakeland farmhouse occupies an idyllic location in the Wasdale Valley. With a variety of walks on your doorstep, there are ample opportunities to explore the rich and varied landscape. Lakeside strolls, woodland scrambles and fell climbs, this area has it all. As one of the big three mountain valleys in the National Park, you can scale Great Gable, Kirk Fell, Yewbarrow and Scafell from here. It’s also known as the birthplace of British climbing, so come prepared. Picturesque Eskdale is nearby. Home to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, you can hop on board for a day out to the Cumbrian coast, whilst history lovers will enjoy a visit to Muncaster Castle.

A traditional Cumbrian farmhouse, this delightful property’s original features blend effortlessly with all the mod-cons you’ll need to make your stay a comfortable one. On the ground floor, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of preparation and storage space. The lounge is cosy, making it the ideal place to settle down of an evening to chat or watch TV. There is also a convenient snug for teenagers who want some space. Upstairs on the first floor, there are four bedrooms, all of which offer views of the beautiful surroundings. The bedrooms are made up of one super-king-size room, one spacious king-size room, one double and one twin zip-and-link (which can be made up as a double upon request) . Completing the accommodation is a shower room with a large walk in shower and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate corner shower, meaning there should be less queues in the morning! The en-suite bathroom is accessed via the super-king size room.

There is a large garden to the rear, which is perfect for taking in the views whilst enjoying a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. It’s also the ideal setting for al fresco dining against the stunning backdrop of the unspoilt fells and mountains. Be sure to venture out on a clear night as the stars are simply stunning. We had a lovely stay at low Greendale, perfect location for wastwater and surrounding fells. Beds comfortable and the cottage has everything you might need. The location is remote so planning needed for supplies, nearest supermarket is 16 miles away, but this did not impact our time, just requires planning. Definitely use what three words to find iRead moret as we did get lost initially. I would recommend this place and hope to return sometime. "Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - Thank you for your lovely review, were delighted you enjoyed the location, comfort, and access to Wastwater and the fells. Just to clarify for future guests, the nearest supermarket is the Co-op in Seascale, about 8 miles away, and most major supermarkets do deliver to the property." Hide

Superb location for exploring the Wasdale Valley. The place had all the essentials for a self catering holiday. Good walking in the area, right from the door and access to the coast and Whitehaven if the rain is set in.

Just the most well-equipped cottage in an idyllic location. We loved it. We particularly enjoyed the proper coffee machine! We have visited Greendale many times for the mountains and lakes and it was just the perfect cottage to return to. We will definitely book again. Thank you!

Brilliant location for the western lakes, Scafell Pike and Wastwater. Lovely walks straight from the home, didn't need to use the car to see lots of amazing scenery.

Superb location, would recommend just driving in from Gosforth, first time around if its dark, from the South. Really warm, really comfy bed and loved sitting in the conservatory area.
