A first-floor apartment in the centre of Cockermouth that’s an ideal base for a couple or young family looking to explore the North Lakes and unspoilt Cumbrian coast.

Located just off Cockermouth’s main street, you will find a good selection of local independent shops and restaurants on your doorstep. The town is the birthplace of William Wordsworth, and his House and Gardens are just 150 metres away. Enjoy a walk along the River Derwent or head to The Lakes Distillery. In the summer, you can catch a complimentary bus to beautiful Buttermere from the town (runs from 17th July to 5th September). Walk from the centre of town onto the top of Watch Hill (3.5 miles) for a fabulous view across the Solway Firth to Scotland, or south to the hills and the northern valleys. Or, why not try out some of the bike tracks or Go Ape at Whinlatter Forest, only 7.5 miles away? Keswick is only 14 miles away and hosts the popular Mountain Festival annually with some world-class sports, outdoor activities, talks and films, with live music.

As you enter the property through its private entrance, you will find coat and boot storage just inside the front door. Head up the stairs to the first floor and you will find a bright and spacious lounge with a cosy corner sofa and wall-mounted Smart TV where you can catch up on your favourite series after a day out exploring. Off the lounge is the kitchen which is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave a fridge with an ice compartment, and a washing machine. There is a dining table in the lounge where you can enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore. There is a pretty, single bedroom off the lounge, with a pull-out trundle bed which is ideal for children under 10 years, allowing the apartment to sleep four. Head back into the hallway and up the stairs to the second floor where you will find a double bedroom and a bathroom with a bath, separate shower and WC.

There is restricted on-street parking just 10 metres outside the property for you to unload and there is a car park 350 metres away, with unrestricted parking in other areas of the town. There is a small area in front of the property entrance, where you can sip a coffee or read a good book of an evening, and enjoy the sunshine.

As soon as we walked into the property the smell of cigarette smoke of over whelming. Everything stank. The sofa and bedding. I did not stop coughing whilst there. Had to buy air fresheners and made no difference. I have to wash all of clothes due to the smell. This property was in a great location to access the towns shops, pubs and restaurants as well as the river for some nice scenic walks and bus stops right outside for Keswick. The apartment is over 2 floors, well equipped and comfortable. You can park outside on main street for up to an hour with a blue disc (inside property) we then parked in LortoRead moren Street car park, 5 mins walk which cost us around 30 for 7days (use website to pay for 7 days). A great location to all the attraction in the Northern Lakes. To walk out onto the main street was fab and central to the whole town. The apartment was modernly furnished and nicely decorated. Need to mention only overnight parking on the streets and with the blue disc, still only one hours parking allowed. The beds were comfy, could do with comfy Read morepillows to match. The sofa was broken so got a bit uncomfortable to sit on for too long. Kitchen had everything you needed. Hide

Fantastic location for visiting Cockermouth, all local shops are incredibly close and loads of local places to go for a stroll. The apartment was very clean and tidy, ideal for my wife and I and our two 4 legged friends

This is a comfortable, spacious and well equipped apartment in the heart of Cockermouth. It's light, airy and very quiet. I had a lovely stay and it was great to have shops, cafs and dog walking places within walking distance. Definitely recommended but do factor that parking will cost extra though charges in the long stay car parks are reasonable.

The flat (it's not a cottage) was very spacious and well-situated in the centre of Cockermouth. The only problems I had were persuading the boiler and the WiFi router to work. Neither would produce hot water or connect me to the internet, despite appearing to be in full working order. Choices for parking were either town car parks, which would haveRead more added ~40 to the cost, or street parking about half a mile away. I don't begrudge the town restricting parking, but guests should know about this. Hide
