Beautiful Lakeland cottage with many original features enjoying a tranquil location close to many of the Lake District’s most popular attractions.
This beautiful detached Lakeland cottage is situated in the delightful little hamlet of Far Sawrey, where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous stories. Two miles away is Hawkshead, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District. Found between both Coniston Water and Lake Windermere, Hawkshead is the home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, with a selection of pubs, tea rooms and gift shops to enjoy. Esthwaite Water is another lake which lies close by. Perfect for fishing, this lake’s surrounding scenery inspired the poetry of Wordsworth. Within easy reach are other popular spots such as Ambleside, Coniston, Grasmere and Grizedale, while a short ferry ride can also take you to Windermere and Bowness with ease.
On entering this lovely cottage you will find yourself in the elegant dining room, with its traditional wood burner and exposed beams. The large dining table is perfect for family meals and there is access to the kitchen. Passing through to the welcoming and traditional lounge, you will find its original range with open fire and bread oven, as well as plenty of seating, TV and DVD. The stylish kitchen is equipped with everything you may need during your stay including an Aga-style oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave (the washer/dryer and freezer are in the utility room). The kitchen opens onto the delightfully light and airy breakfast room, with windows on three sides overlooking the garden. You will also find a bathroom on the ground floor, complete with shower over the bath and WC. As this cottage was formerly two cottages which have been combined to create one spacious and welcoming property, there are two staircases, each leading up to two bedrooms at either end of the building. Heading upstairs from the lounge will take you into a comfy double bedroom, a cosy single bedroom and a shower room with WC. Heading upstairs from the dining room you will find another double and a twin bedroom.
Stepping outside you will find the beautiful, very private, south-facing garden with patio area which is great for al fresco dining, a summer house and an extensive lawn which is great for children to play on (young children will need to be supervised as there is a steep sided stream which runs along the bottom of the garden). There is off-road parking for up to four cars by the cottage.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
