Just a mile from the heart of the popular Lakeland town of Cockermouth, this bright, fresh and spacious bungalow is a lovely holiday home for a family exploring northern Cumbria and the Lake District.

The centre of Cockermouth is only about a mile away, where you will find a wide range of welcoming restaurants, friendly pubs and independent shops. The poet William Wordsworth was born in the town, and you can visit his birthplace near the River Derwent. There are miles of beautiful walks and cycle trails to follow throughout the region; heading further into the Lake District you can discover Bassenthwaite Lake (6.5 miles), Derwentwater (13 miles), Crummock Water (8.5 miles) and Buttermere (11.5 miles). Heading east you can explore the Cumbrian coastline, including the popular resort of Maryport (7.5 miles). Other local attractions include The Lakes Distillery (6.5 miles), Mirehouse and Gardens (12 miles) and the Lake District Wildlife Park (8 miles).

Entering this welcoming bungalow – which takes its name from the Maori word for ‘welcome’ – you will find the main living areas to the rear of the property, occupying an extension to the original building. The light, fresh and relaxing lounge/diner is a lovely space to unwind in, with a Smart TV, DVD, Bluetooth speaker, plenty of seating and a pleasant dining area. Heading into the stylish kitchen, you will find it kitted out with a useful range of equipment including an electric oven with gas hob, combi oven/microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. There are also two cosy bedrooms: a cheerful twin room and a delightful double room which also has a TV. The bathroom features a double-ended bath, walk-in shower and WC.

French doors lead out from the lounge into the imaginatively landscaped garden which is set over two levels. The patio has outdoor furniture and makes an ideal space for a morning coffee. Seven steps lead up to the lawned upper level, where there’s further seating perfect for enjoying the sunset. The garden also contains a range of bedding plants, and you’re welcome to help yourself to some of the raspberries, rhubarb, mint and cherries that grow here. The driveway has space for two cars, and there’s also storage space for bikes in the back garden.

We all four enjoyed our stay as did our dogs that settled very quickly. One note that would be of use to dog owners that visit (and that is one of the main reasons for visiting this property) is find out where in Keswick you can take pooches for a walk early morning/evening as they options are very limited and this property is in the middle of an aRead morelbeit small estate so a car journey to some where for a quicky is essential. We found the bungalow and garden to be private, even though it is attached, and in a very quiet residential cul-de-sac. It had everything we needed and was handy to get on the main roads to explore all of the Lake District (we could get to Windermere in just under an hour for example), and it was only a 5-10 mins walk into Cockermouth.

This is a high spec. accomodation which is in a peaceful setting. It is ideally situated for touring the Lakes or the Coast which is only 6/7 miles away. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable we would thoroughly recommend this bungalow.

This property was first class - spacious , clean and with all mid cons . We couldnt fault it . The garden was perfect for the dogs even though we were out most of the day . A lovely property, extremely comfortable, a lovely enclosed garden which our dogs enjoyed. Kia Ora was well equipped and was situated in a quiet cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Cockermouth Town Centre, which was only a 10-15 minute stroll away. Fantastic stay in a well equipped bungalow. The garden was great for the dogs who could just come in and out as they pleased with the patio doors. Close too to local amenities for anyone who wants to shop when they arrive. This was an ideal base for us with 3 dogs to take in the walks and sites of the area. The location did not disappoint. Lovely spacious property with beautiful garden, capturing the sun throughout the day. Very well equipped and the kitchen had unbelievable amounts of storage (not often found in most cottages but so useful when self catering). The bungalow is furnished to a very good standard with many quality finishes. Located in a very pleasant residential area and exceptionally quiet, with a lovely garden to enjoy. The bungalow is also handily placed for a easy 15 minute walk into Cockermouth with a great choice of independant shops, pubs and cafes etc.

The bungalow was very comfortable and well equipped. The standard of cleanliness was excellent. It was about a mile into town which was no problem but it is an uphill walk back.
