This elegant country home is the perfect venue for celebrating special occasions with family and friends.

If you’re searching for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion or holiday with friends and family, look no further than this charming rural retreat. Located in the popular village of Cartmel and within walking distance of a pub and shop, it’s a stylish base which sleeps up to eight people. It also boasts a studio annexe with its own entrance, which is perfect for larger groups.

This four-bedroom home has been beautifully decorated throughout with calming neutral tones and elegant furnishings. The spacious shaker-style kitchen is well-equipped to meet all your needs, whether you’re rustling up a snack or more formal meal, which can be enjoyed at the large table in the dining room. Antique furniture adds a charming rustic feel, with French doors that allow you to spill into the garden on warmer days. The bright and airy lounge is a delightful space for relaxing together after a busy day, with soft and comfortable furnishings centring around the cosy wood burner-effect gas fire. The shabby chic theme continues upstairs in the three pretty bedrooms, each with their own calming style, and the bathroom is also on this level. Above the garage and with its own entrance, a studio annexe offers a secluded spot away from the main house, with pitched ceilings, a king-size bed and sitting room area. Unwind with a glass of wine in the garden, which boasts a lawn and stone patio.

While the property provides ample space for a party of 8 it should be noted that this is across both the cottage and the annex, so lounge and dining space in the cottage alone are better suited to a party of 6, especially if all adults.

Try Cartmel’s famous sticky toffee pudding before enjoying a meal in one of the local pubs or restaurants. For a gentle stroll, Eggerslack Woods (3 miles) is a great spot, while Lake Windermere (6 miles) is perfect for a day packed with water sports, boat trips and swimming. If you fancy a day on the coast, pay Grange-over-Sands a visit (2.5 miles) and walk along its long promenade.

Please note there is a refundable £200 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

  • Maximum occupancy allowed at this property is 8 including infants
  • Comfortable seating in the main sitting room for 6 with further seating in the annexe
  • 3 bedrooms in main house - 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath
  • Studio annexe suite with king-size bed, shower room, Smart TV with Blu-ray/DVD player, Bose iPod dock, Wi-Fi and small fridge
  • Range electric oven with gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, smoothie maker, washing machine and tumble dryer
  • Smart TV with Blu-ray/DVD player
  • Bose iPod dock
  • Bed linen, towels, electric and heating included
  • Wi-Fi include
  • Garden with furniture and BBQ
  • Parking - off-road for 3 cars
  • Pub 50 yards and village shop 100 yards

Amazing week in Cartmel and at the cottage. On arrival the cottage was spotless. Lovely rooms and annexe. The garden is very nice with plenty of flowers and seating. The cottage is in a perfect position for local amenities (segway great fun) and Cartmel itself is such a lovely village. There are lots of pubs and places to eat around and about.

Dirtiest accommodation we have ever stayed in. Property location was fantastic. External property kerb appeal was fantastic. Once inside, was a different story. Disgustingly dirty. Used toilet paper in WC. Hairs in bath, Rubbish under the bed. Burnt toast in toaster & the list goes on. Owner, whilst pleasant in his text messages (to advise us thereRead more was no external bin - we were greeted with an attacked plastic bag of rubbish on arrival) We have stayed in 12 properties in Cartmel before Hide

Great space and beautiful cottage located facing the pig and whistle. Versatile space with having the room above the garage. This is the second time we have visited and will come back again

Fantastic outdoor space, separate annex was a real bonus. Beautifully presented character cottage in the centre of Cartmel.

We found the accommodation was cramped for 8 and equipment inadequate eg only 6 dining chairs, only 1 pillow per person on some beds, settee space not adequate for 8. Only 1 set of keys which compromised fire escape. Poor water pressure in bathroom shower. Good location though with access to village amenities.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
