A beautifully converted barn, with stunning views towards Bassenthwaite. Find lots of attractions and amenities in the local area to enjoy when staying with friends or a large family.

Plan a trip to the beautiful northern stretch of the Lake District and stay at this handsome barn conversion at Bassenthwaite. Sleeping six guests, and also welcoming two dogs, this single-storey, three-bedroom property is in an exceptional position for getting close to nature. Just 7 miles from Keswick, it is also ideal for afternoons out in the town and water sports and activities on or along the shores of Derwentwater.

Wander into this rural-style retreat to find yourself in a warm, inviting lounge, with exposed stone walls and great timber beams. Gather together in here after long fell walks to catch your favourite programmes on TV or watch a DVD. On warm days, open up the door on to the shared garden to allow a summer breeze in. Take turns to prepare delicious dinners in the well-equipped kitchen/diner and enjoy having a dishwasher so no-one finds themselves at the kitchen sink afterwards. When you are ready to lay your head on your pillow, make your way to one of the two king-size bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, or to the twin bedroom. There is also a family bathroom at the property. Take a cup of tea out on to a picnic table within the shared courtyard area on fine days. Find you have parking for two cars at the barn.

Head down to beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake, approximately 1 mile away, to go wildlife watching and to walk through the nature reserve. Plan trips to the Lake District Wildlife Park, just 2 miles from the barn, where you can see all kinds of mammals, birds and reptiles, and where children will enjoy the play area. Visit the Lakes Distillery, 2.5 miles away, to see the alpacas, take a tour and perhaps enjoy a taste of local whisky.

Fabulous place to stay and in a perfect location to be far enough away from town not to suffer noisy pubs or passers by or light pollution but still having fab views of the valley, very close to Bassenthwait water and in perfect location to reach all of the lakes with ease or to take an hours trip to Hadrians wall.

The cottage is in a lovely location, and on the whole is well equipped. Standards of cleanliness weren't met and the vaccum cleaner left was filthy and broken. There were damp issues in the third bedroom and a nasty smell as a result. Lack of soundproofing meant Noise issues from property above. Issues raised during our stay with Management CompanyRead more, but no acknowledgement or response. Hide

A good location, a what3words location would help location as the postcode is inaccurate. The cottage has good sized rooms and lovely views of the hills. The oven would probably prove small for a larger family.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our week's holiday at Marley's Lodge in August 2023. We loved the large ground floor space, furnished comfortably and carpeted throughout, as well as the well-appointed kitchen and bathrooms. Our needs were met and we were thrilled to view from our front door the osprey soaring over Bassenthwaite Lake! The weather was dry anRead mored we visited RSPB sites, accessible wetlands, wildlife park, the railway path between Keswick and Threlfeld and dined out at The Sun. A lovely area. Hide
