Both Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, and the market town of Keswick are within 8 miles, and both have a great selection of independent shops and restaurants. The Lakes Distillery is less than a mile away and offers tours and tastings sessions. It also has a lovely bistro to enjoy a spot of lunch. Walkers and cyclists are spoilt for choice with some fabulous walks from the door, including Sale Fell and Dubwath Silver Meadows Nature Reserve. For any mountain bike enthusiast, there are some brilliant tracks in Whinlatter Forest, only 8 miles away.
