Once owned by John Myers, the cousin of William Wordsworth, this converted chapel has an enviable position with views over the Whicham Valley, Black Combe Fell and continuing towards the Coniston Fells. It’s the perfect bolthole for a couple looking for a romantic getaway. However, if guests want to be part of a bigger party, this property can be booked with another property for larger groups – a converted farmhouse that sleeps four guests. With Black Combe Fell and the Whicham Valley on the doorstep, there are many walks from the front door. Coniston in the southern Lake District fells is 12 miles away, Lake Windermere’s Newby Bridge 15 miles away and Wastewater just over 22 miles distant.

To take advantage of the views, this property has been configured with the living and sleeping area upstairs. The whole top floor is an open-plan living space with a bedroom, with many original features, oak beams, stone walls and chapel-style windows. It's a fantastic space with wooden flooring, a welcoming, warming wood burner and comfortable seating – a great room to unwind in at any time of the day. Downstairs, there is the kitchen that has everything guests would need for an easy self-catering holiday. The dining table offers lovely views across the garden whilst enjoying dinner. The bathroom is located just off the kitchen equipped with a walk-in shower and free-standing bath – a peaceful spot to relax at the end of the day's exploring.

There is an enclosed mature garden with a seating area overlooking the rolling countryside.

The Chapel was everything and more we could have asked for. Its a stunning conversion with a beautiful and spacious garden for the dogs to roam around in. It had all of the amenities we required, and was plenty big enough for two people/ 4 dogs. The secluded location was beautiful and incredibly peaceful, but it was also very easy to find. It was aRead more quick 2 minute drive down to Silecroft beach and had a public pathway walk right on the doorstep, both of which were perfect for the dogs. The host was extremely friendly and accommodating. I wouldnt hesitate to return to The Chapel in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay. Hide

An immaculate accommodation. With wonderful facilities. It was a real treat to stay here. We took our 4 dogs and they loved it. Plenty of space for them and easy to clean their paws. The beach at Haverigg was a short drive away and perfect for running the dogs. The owner was very helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

The standard of the quality of this cottage was not as high as other cottages Ive stayed in but was still a very good standard. It wasnt as secluded as Id hoped for, being part of a small cluster of buildings on a working farm which wasnt in the description
