This wonderful first-floor apartment is the perfect romantic retreat for two people looking for a holiday where they can explore the stunning Lake District scenery around them.

This lovely apartment is one of four cottages contained in an old barn on the owner’s former farm. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep, including to Ullock Pike (3 miles) and Dodd Wood (1.5 miles), or more leisurely walks around Bassenthwaite Lake (4 miles) where you may see ospreys nesting and spawning Atlantic salmon. In Bassenthwaite itself (1.5 miles) you’ll find a pub that serves food and real ale, or head to Keswick (6 miles) where there is a wider choice to suit all tastes. Take a tour around the Lakes Distillery (3.5 miles) and taste the produce to decide which ones to stock up on to take home.

Stairs lead up to this first-floor cottage where you’re greeted by an open-plan living area. Vaulted, beamed ceilings ensure lots of light floods in, but draw the curtains at night and turn on the electric fire and it becomes a cosy haven to curl up in on the sofas. The kitchen area has a quaint, contemporary style with everything you need to cook up hearty meals to keep you going all day and a wooden table to dine at. Enjoy stunning fell views from almost all of the windows including the spacious double bedroom which has a beautiful, exposed beam and peaceful decor. Opposite the bedroom is a bright, contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside, the large, shared garden is perfect for whiling away the afternoons; sit on the patio or wander the lawns. There is off-road parking for one car in the courtyard near the property.

A super spacious and airy apartment in a stunning location. The kitchen is well equipped and it is close enough to Keswick to be able to drive in easily for shops etc. But far enough out to get the feeling of being away from it all. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
