This cosy property is ideal for couples and small groups keen to experience beautiful lake Windermere with its chocolate-box villages, walking routes and water sports opportunities.

Lake Windermere is renowned for its majestic scenery of mountains and rugged countryside as well as its array of activities and pretty lakeside towns and villages. Offering comfortable sleeping spots for up to four guests, you’ll soon be walking into Bowness-on-Windermere to sample delicious local produce in one of the eateries, or picking up souvenirs in an independent shop. The lake itself is a hub for water sports and leisure cruises, whether you are keen to try your hand at kayaking or would prefer to sit back and admire the views at leisure. A walker’s paradise, you’ll soon be discovering the varied landscape from the comfort of your doorstep, or catching the car ferry to explore somewhere new such as Ambleside.

Single-level and set on the ground floor of a converted barn, this compact yet comfortable property sleeps four guests. Step into the bright hallway and you’ll find the bedrooms to your right, and the lounge/diner to your left behind a partition. Natural light pours in through the two sets of French doors, and the wood burner set within the open fireplace keeps the open-plan living space warm. There is a dining table with seating for four, and the lounge has seating, a TV/DVD and a selection of books and DVDs. A set of double doors reveals the kitchen with its electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer and a fridge with icebox compartment. Back through the hallway you’ll find the family bathroom that is perfect for a soak in the shower over the bath, and there is a WC too. At bedtime, the first bedroom you’ll come to is the handy bunkroom with adult-sized bunk beds, wardrobes and chest of drawers. The final bedroom is at the rear of the property with a double bed, bedside tables, seating and storage.

Encircled by a dry-stone wall, the shared garden features a table and chairs for your sole use, ideal for sharing a bottle of wine with views at sunset. You’ll also find a car park area and a compact orchard alongside the lawned garden and BBQ area.

Really nice modern cottage kitted out with a range of the equipment one might for a week or two away. Lovely peaceful setting and about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. One or two walks can be done directly from the cottage. Has its own garden table plus barbecue facilities provided.

Location is unbelievable. Feels totally out on its own in the countryside, yet youre less than a mile from Bowness.

Location was superb, very quiet and easy walk down Into Bowness with all amenities. Definitely need to follow the directions carefully to the property but they are clear. Really enjoyed our stay.

Comfy with good facilities. Situated 15 mins walk from Bowness (uphill). Might not be suitable for people with mobility problems, though fine for us as we are regular walkers albeit in our seventies!

Lovely stay. Great location for access to Bowness however very steep and narrow driveway to cottage. Great parking, cosy cottage, a little impersonal with signage and lighting. However, would use again.

Great space with everything you need for a little home away from home, really close to the tourist centre of Bowness. The cottage is up a steep road from the village though, which is at times very narrow so we weren't able to walk all the way from the cottage to the amenities with our pram safely. Without the pram and with some fitness you would beRead more fine though! Hide
