A wonderful holiday destination for families and a pair of canine companions, this spacious lodge sits between the bustling locations of Carlisle and Penrith. Sleeping four guests across two bedrooms, spend an adventurous day at nearby Ullswater (16.5 miles), before bubbling the night away in the hot tub or sinking into the comfortable sofa for a film night.

Up the steps onto the decking, make your way into the open-plan living space to settle in. Head towards the kitchen area where there is ample room for all of your ingredients and all you need to rustle up delicious meals. Having cooked up a storm, descend steps and dine alfresco on balmy evenings, or stay cosy and dine inside with the wood burner effect electric fire lit to fill the space with warmth. After long days exploring, sink into the pair of armchairs or the corner sofa and put your feet up in front of the Smart TV. A soak in the hot tub is the perfect way to end the day; spend time under the stars before heading to sleep in one of two inviting bedrooms. With an en-suite shower room and a family shower room, there is no need to queue to freshen up in the mornings. There is off-road parking for two cars.

There’s plenty to explore in this area of the Lake District. 26 miles from home, begin a circular walk at Birdoswald Roman Fort where you can find the longest surviving stretch of Hadrian’s Wall and treat yourselves to something tasty in the tearoom. Make a splash at the second largest lake in England, Ullswater (16.5 miles), where you can hire boats, book on a dog-friendly cruise or stay dry and wander the water’s edge. Enjoy a pitstop at Penrith (7 miles) and have a night off from the kitchen or pick up some local produce for dinner.

Fantastic stay at this lodge. Really cosy and spacious, everything you could need for cooking and dining in but also with the fantastic positioning of the pub across the road to dine out! We enjoyed our stay in Shefferlands which was very clean and comfortable.
