This cosy first-floor apartment in the traditional village of Rosthwaite, sleeps two people in one bedroom and welcomes two canine companions. Sitting in a pretty complex of stone properties in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley, it’s the ideal Lake District retreat for a romantic couple who want to make the very most of the great outdoors. Spend your days hiking Honister Pass, and your evenings enjoying a glass of wine in the enclosed shared garden.
Stroll through the shared hallway and head up the staircase to the first-floor apartment. Step inside and you’ll find a stylish open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner area, which boasts pretty views over the village. Cook a romantic meal for two in the compact kitchen and enjoy an intimate dinner at the dining table in front of the window. After dinner, make your way to the shared garden to sip a glass of wine and watch the stars come out, or head to the living area to catch up on your favourite TV shows beside the electric fire in the living area. When the day is done, retreat to the lovely double bedroom for a great night’s sleep.
If you love rock climbing, the Barrowdale Valley is the place to be, because there are plenty of low level fast drying crags that are easily accessible from the road. The climb at Little Chamonix (6 miles) is one of the UK's most popular multi-pitch climbs. Alternatively, pack up a picnic and head to the attractive village of Grange in Borrowdale (2 miles) and enjoy an al fresco lunch on the banks of the River Derwent. Or make your way into Keswick and check out the artisan spirits and liqueurs on offer at the Spirit of Keswick Distillery (6.5 miles).
