Escape for a romantic break at this lovely first-floor apartment in a complex of pretty stone properties in the village of Rosthwaite. Sleeping two people in one bedroom and welcoming two canine companions, it’s the ideal romantic retreat if you’re looking for a fabulous village apartment that you can use as a base for exploring the natural wonders of the Barrowdale Valley. Spend your days cruising around Derwentwater, and your evenings sipping a glass of wine in the enclosed shared garden.
This welcoming first-floor apartment is accessed through a shared hallway and a staircase. Step inside and make your way to the compact kitchen area, which opens up onto the lounge. Whip up a romantic meal for two and enjoy an intimate dinner at the table in the living area. After dinner, snuggle up on the sofa in front of the TV, or make your way to the shared garden to sip a glass of something cool and crisp as you soak up the views of the fells. At the end of the day, there’s a spacious double bedroom to retire to. In the morning you’ll wake up to pretty village views.
Head to Keswick (6.5 miles) and hop on a cruise of Derwent Water. You’re sure to love the views of Skiddaw, Catbells and the ‘Jaws of Borrowdale’. Alternatively, head to Ambleside (22.5 miles) and challenge yourself to a hike up to Kirkstone Pass - the Lake District's highest pass. Be aware though - the road from Ambleside to the top is called ‘The Struggle’ for good reason.
